Edit: NEWS: And it 's back on! It's all good.

Hello all, out there. Tis May and the gateway toward summer is officially open. Nothing new on my end concerning jobs, it's still a waiting game I'm playing but no one wants to end it yet. Yada yada, the usual sob story. Those out their job hunting know the score. In any case, it's the beginning of Con (i.e convention) season and I'm looking forward to trying to catch as many as I can with Project A-Kon first on my list. (Dallas Comic Con is technically the first but I won't be able to make it). I plan on working there so I can get a badge and move around without restriction. Well that and I kinda like working behind the scenes, I went last year strictly as a guest and, while it was fun, I actually got bored after awhile. You can only do so much at a con if your just visiting and its pretty cool being one of the cogs that helps keep it running. Plus this year marks a new location too, so it's quite exciting seeing how things will play out. If anyone's going to head to A-Kon, I'll be the dude wearing the binder hat with random sayings on my head. Why? Because I'm to cheap (or poor) to make a costume. =P Sides its pretty much a tradition with me by this point.

I'm also sorry for those whom I owe a drawing to, it's just been so busy what with job hunting and helping my sister with her final days of school (Prom, Graduation, traveling, etc) that my work drive is in flux at the moment. I will get to work doing them however as I know a lot of you have been waiting patiently and even finished your trades as well, to which I really appreciate it. I'm not one of these people who requests a trade or gets paid and runs without upholding my end of the bargain. It's just life y'know, you get busy and some things take priority that you sometimes forget other commitments. But I promise I'll get with all of you as fast as I can.  ;)

That said here's some other things of interest.

* Injustice: Gods Among Us
Oh wow, just wow. I never thought I see when a DC fighter would be done decently but this one managed to get it right across the board. Everyone's in character and a few even got their voices back from their respective TV series. It's a solid story (even if they tricked us into thinking it was an solo Elseworlds story. Shame shame WB) , it looks beautiful and the gameplay flows so smoothly. Especially love the clash system which can turn the tide of the fight and the multi-tiered and interactive stages. Some fighters could've been better handled though (Green Arrow and Flash come to mind) and I wish they had made more then one special move animation. The Star Lab missions are kinda meh, Oh and no TAG TEAM FEATURE (seriously NeatherRealms, what's up with that). But overall it's a great game and recommended for folks who love fighters, DC comics, superheroes or all three.

* Teen Titans Go
So this alternate and rather silly take on the original series finally dropped. And it's not bad, yeah it's weird seeing all the characters act so goofy (especially if your coming off of watching the '03 series) or acting like they've never met most of the bad guys before. The vivid colors are also rather distracting (seriously guys turn it down) and I'm not liking some of the designs for the civilian character, looks too Hanna-Barbara and really clashes with main character designs. But the animations are pretty smooth and I did like some of the jokes even if they've recycling some of the plots It's still in it's early phases so I can only hope it's gets better in the future. I say give it a chance at least.

* Iron Man 3
Awesome, and not a bad way to kick off the summer movie season either. It's loads better then then the second movie and does a good job of following up from The Avengers with post Alien-invasion story that does indeed seem to focus on a world really changed by supernatural events. Unlike the second film though, they do a better job of focusing on the villains plan and Tony's development with both himself and his friends and family. Though he's once again not in the suit for much of the film. Heck it's only near the finale he truly dons it (...er more or less). They might as well have called it "Tony Stark and the Suits" =P. And I agree with most reviewers, where's S.H.I.E.L.D during all of this? I know their presence in the first two films were to build up The Avengers but still they should've least been mentioned or something. That said though, the rest of the story is great, all the characters were used nicely. The twist in the middle I actually did like as it brought something new to the table and a very fantastic climax to boot (as well as a very humorous stinger). I don't know if Robert Downey Jr will be back to play the role again (least not as a stand alone movie) but I hope he does, you can't have Iron Man without him after all. So yeah go out and see this if you haven't, guaranteed you'll love it!

Wish I had gotten to know him better but considering all the out-pouring people here are giving him, he was a great friend. Here's to you dude, may you rest in peace.

  • Mood: Optimism
(Hits head on a wall) Why is it so hard to get a job this day and age? I contact and I talk to people. But everyone want to take their sweet time in getting back to you. Just..oy =_=, but setbacks are setbacks and I plow on.

Weather's still a bit wonky but the with the coming rains means we'll be in sunshine soon. However that means coming heat, so we'll mostly be trading cold to hot. Combine that with a car that has no AC and you realize why I'm desperate to get a job before summer kicks in. Otherwise though it's business as usual.

April 16: Injustice: Gods Among Us drops
April 23: Teen Titans Go premieres. I hear some good things about it and willing to give it a chance. Though a little miffed they pushed this on us instead of a sixth season.
** Dead Island: Riptide drops.

===Reviews and News===

Bioshock Infinite
Ah finally, after such a three year development, the game finally hits the shelves. And it is just as good as the original. Playing to it's strengths while also improving on others. It's much more fast paced then the previous two games and the addition of "Tears", little bits of power from your AI companion Elizabeth, provides some nice strategy. Speaking of which, you'll never find a more trustworthy partner as Elizabeth is quite useful in finding ammo, power-ups and money as you two explore the floating city of Columbia. And really, saying that this game is beautiful is an understatement. The whole city just feels so alive, like it's a place you're really visiting and fully immerses you into it. Course it's not the nicest of places to live and has some supernatural elements, but for the most part it does feel like your there. Story is okay, not great. It stumbles in the middle half and does get a tad confusing (especially ending wise). But the characters of Booker and Elizabeth are quite strong and their bonding very believable that you do come to care about them come game's end, I just kinda wish they had a stronger antagonist. Still for what it is, it's a solid buy and I highly recommend it.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon
 Another game I've been looking forward too. I loved the original on the Gamecube and was delighted to hear Luigi will be back in the ghost catching saddle (not so much it's 3DS exclusive though, judging how the Wii U is doing, bet they're kicking themselves for not making this a console game). And his second go around is even better. The game once more expands on the original, with missions that have you progressing further and further into the haunted dwellings, sucking up ghosts who impede your progress. The main draw of the game is exploration though and boy does this game deliver. You'll be vacuuming up every nook and cranny to uncover loot or secrets. Curiosity definitely rewards, if it flutters, can be pulled, pushed or spun, chances are it's got something to hide. And kudos to the developers for making some of them pretty devious too. The animations are also very solid, Miyamoto wasn't kidding when he said he had a blast doing these. Luigi and the ghost have some very fun movement and it is just a hoot to watch, guarantee you'll be chuckling at something or other.  Only downsides, the game's pretty long and it lacks the variety of ghosts from the first game (they're essentially colored blobs who have different shapes but otherwise look very similar), plus you'll be doing the same mission a few times (find the ghosts who have an important object, chase down ghost dog, etc). I haven't play multi-player yet so I don't know how that works. But other then that, no complaints whatsoever, go out and get it.

Roger Ebert's Death
Really came as a shock when this news hit me, though it was inevitable seeing how he had cancer. I know most don't really like him (just go to Arlong Park Forums), especially to gamers when he said "Games Weren't Art" (he did take that back, by the way, admitting it was a snap judgement on a subject he wasn't familiar with). But I still loved watching his show back then when Siskel and he were running it. Though I didn't agree with all his judgements on certain movies (as is the case with any critic), I never  stayed mad at him over it. He was a tough but fair dude who gave some pretty legitimate reason for his decisions and was quite good at analyzing movies. Tis sad to see him go, but it comforts me knowing he's with his best friend now. Rest in Peace, Mr. Ebert and thanks for your opinions.

Disney Shuts Down 2D Animation Department
[link] ...Looks like their playing for keeps this time. Just....shoot! They only got out like two pieces of 2D films (The Princess and the Frog and the recent Winnie The Pooh movie which if I remember correctly hardly got much exposure or fanfare.) To see them give up like this is just heartbreaking, I can kinda understand though. Economy is in the toilet and something's gotta give. But still, I don't want to see them just be completely 3D. I want some variety from them, dammit! -Sighs- Oy. This doesn't affect the TV shows btw, just the movies. Doesn't lessen the impact any though. Guess it really is up to us to make out own entertainment then.

It's March...yeah that's all I got. Most I can say that the weather been pretty up and down lately. It's cold one day, warm the next and back again @_@. I'm actually kinda looking forward to summer now.

I'm considering making an "Ask Tumblr" with Storm since it seems to be a current thing at the moment. I'm not one for bandwagon jumping but it looks fun. Whatca think, should I go for it?

March 17: St Patrick's Day, wear your green or get pinched. You've been warned!
March 26: Bioshock Infinite released, the long three year wait is over!

===Reviews and News===

Metal Gear Rising Revengence: =Whistles= Like many I had my doubts but this one knocked it out of the park. It's controls smoothly, is fast paced, actually requires strategy in boss fights and is a hell of a lot of fun chopping up everything you can cleave your sword with. Wasn't really too invested in the story (it's more or less is about Raiden's beliefs getting shaken as he tries to save the world) but it's the usual Kojima political nonsense combined with the fantastic that you all know and love by now. Though surprisingly of the MGS games, this one probably the least cutscene heavy I've seen and you can skip them, a major plus. Being a beat em (slash em?) up though, it does get a little repetitive and the environments are a bit bland. The game's also pretty short too. Likewise you REALLY need to get parrying down quickly or you won't get far, but they made it so you have to hit R3 and X at the same time that it makes it very tricky to get the timing down. I've actually seen some reviews deride the game sorely because of it. Yeah it would've been better if they just added a block button but it doesn't make the game unplayable, you just need to practice is all. Once you've mastered it, the game becomes much more enjoyable. Overall though this was a pleasant surprise and more proof that Platinum Games needs to stay around longer. Instant recommendation.

Welp here we are in the second month of the year. Still same old same old on my end. So I won't bore you with the details. Just some little tidbits.

Month Long: Black History Month of course Coming off the heels of the beginning of Obama's 2nd term, tis quite appropriate neh?
Feb 10: The year of the snake officially begins!
Feb 14: Valentine's Day, makes sure you show your love ones some affection!
Feb 16: Season finale of MLP: FIM. Been a lot of noise over what gonna happen. People, it's just a show. I love it too and I know change is scary. But give the writers a chance before you start complaining their ears off.  They love the show as much as anyone and haven't steered us wrong yet.
Feb 21: My mom's birthday. Happy Birthday, Mom ^_^.

=== News and Reviews ===
Sly Cooper 4: Got a chance to play it, major fan of the previous games. This is just as good, much better animation, a lot of exploration to be had and some great boss fight. Playing as some of the Cooper Clan gives a extra punch too. Complaints? Long loading times, character chatter should've stayed story specific (they repeat themselves during gameplay and it does get a tad annoying), camera's a bit fussy, and there's a bit of a twist in the middle that might rub fans of the third game the wrong way (I didn't mind it but the fanbase is already getting a little vocal).  Otherwise it's worthy continuation of the series and I look forward to the next installment.

Rayman Legends Delay and Multiplatorm: Was absolutely pleased when I heard this. Granted it got pushed back to September but that mean I can at least get it alongside Grand Theft Auto 5 now. Wii U owners of course were pretty much livid when this dropped more from the delay since it seems the game was already finished but they were holding off. But hey fair's fair right?

MLP Spin Off?!: [link] Er WAH? I know fandom likes to make the poinies human but really making a TV show off of it? I..don't know, that might lose the appeal of the series and seems to smack of desperation to keep the series going. But hey I'm an open minded person.

That said, hope everyone's doing well as we mosey toward Spring. Take care of yourselves guys =D.

So long holiday season and 2012, the latter was a pretty balanced year. We still got war, New York got flooded (though thankfully my friends in that area are alright), most of my favorite actors passed on (Sherman Hemsly, Andy Griffith and Michal Clarke Duncan) and the U.S.'s debt situation seems to have gotten much worse. But on the plus side, Obama got another four years in the White House, most of my hopefuls at the box office did wonderfully (The Avengers, Hotel Transylvania, ParaNorman and Wreck It Ralph), and the U.S cleaned house at the Olympics.

So with that, another new year, another chance for new opportunities. New resolution though is to pump out drawings faster, since I'm really getting the hang of the tablet, helped much by my new Photoshop program. So don't be surprised if a few comics FINALLY show up on my page.

Speaking of which, that kinda been the reason why I haven't been drawing them much. I'm trying to get a stable yet customizable site going for it but they either don't have enough options or are too complicated. Seriously isn't there one where I can just design the site and upload it (and no I'm not going back to Comic Genesis. Theirs either doesn't upload on time or not at all.). I considered wordpress but it doesn't seem to suit me. In any case though the Powdered Palms comic is underway though, so that's something to look forward too.

That said, I wish every one a Happy New Year. May your endeavors bring you success!  :party:

And we reach the final two months of the year. How's everyone doing, hope your Halloween was wonderful. Me? Meh, just stayed home, did a drawing, messed with my friends in chat and watched some horror movies. Ho-hum. Can't say it wasn't fun though. November's mostly gonna be working to earn some money before the holidays. Other then that, nothing special, maybe some drawings here and there. It's all good. Here's some media related things for ya.

===
- Wreck It Ralph

Saw this movie on it's opening day, absolutely loved it. And not just because it's video game-related (though clearly that doesn't hurt) but because it just plain awesom. The characters are all likeable and you'll really come to care about them, the story is well woven and does a good job of putting you in the setting. Great humor and some genuinely touching moments as well. I'm not a fan of the actors involved (well save Ed O' Neil) but they really do a good job bringing the characters to life. Just...really I can't go on without going into fanboy mode. See this movie now. Even if you're not a gamer, there's a very good chance you'll love it all the same.

- The Amazing Spider-Man

Eh it was alright, much better visuals then Raimi's films and I like that Spider-Man actually snarks in this one like he did in the comic. But I really don't like their portrayal of Peter Parker who becomes a stuttering mess when talking to people, I know he can be awkward at times but he isn't full blown shy. The version of lizard could've been better too. But hey, the 2002 Spider-Man took awhile to get the, pardon the pun, hang of it. So hopefully, part 2 will do better.

- Batman: Arkham Asylum and City
Finally got around to finishing both games, City first then Asylum and the differences are pretty apparent with City having more of a GTA feel while Asylum is more Metroid-like. But I gotta say they're both top notch games. Ton of exploration and a great fighting mechanic. I look forward to the next game when they get around to making it.

-Scott Pilgrim The Game

Yeah another late comer to this game too, took me awhile to buy it. But as a fan of old school brawlers it didn't disappoint. But really tough in the first play Really do wish the leveling up system was better tweaked, word of advice if your playing with friends. Make sure to get all the characters leveled up, because trying to do it as a group is a pain and there is no way you'll progress through the game beyond Stage 2 (Though if your in it for laughs, then hey go right ahead). They're still working on the online co-op I hear so at least I got the game in time for that.

- Other Things of Note
* Nov 6: Voting Day, if you're in the U.S and you can, make sure to do it
* Nov 10: Season 3 of MLP: Friendship is Magic
* Nov 12: Season 4 of Adventure Time
* Nov 22: Thanksgiving (U.S), gobble gobble.

Till December, take it easy all ^_^. Try not to get sick on the food, k?

Hello boys and ghouls and welcome to the start of the final three of the year. A.K.A The Holiday Season. With the month of frights kicking things off as usual.

Soo what does old Richie have planned for this month? Well...

- I'm back to working for a temp job for a school cafeteria. Just  a placeholder till I can find something more solid. C'mon job market, swing my way for once.
- I wanna make a short comic story for Halloween. Maybe staring the Rep cast or Monstra. Hey maybe both.
- Speaking of Monstra, I'm trying to get back to it. Honestly, but one thing or another keep me from continuing. But seeing how it's Oct, theres a good chance I will continue it here.
- State Fair, gonna get me some eats and hopefully not get sick in the process =P
- Oct 20: Fan Days convention. Gonna try to go but we'll see how my financial situation plays out.

And...HAPPY BIRTHDAY CARTOON NETWORK!

I feel this needs a separate bit to go into a bit of retrospective. Way off back 1992 CN premiered it's all cartoon channel. As a kid this was pretty much a goldmine for me as I loved cartoons back then (and of course still do now) and seeing a channel for it was something unheard of. When my folks got cable for the first time. CN was one of the one that was allowed to be selected (unlike packages these days, specialty channels could only be added on separately back then). During the preview days I likewise discovered Nickelodeon and fell in love with their programming too. But alas some of the networks had to be cut and I had to pick between the two. Nickelodeon was the one to go,  I admit it did have more variety but my love of cartoon was stronger with CN so it won out. I remember spending many a sleepless night watching the old toons. They were all dated but I didn't care, as long as it was animated I was happy.

However tough times struck my household and the cable had to go to reduce bills. This sadly came right before the age where CN started showing original toons so I wasn't around for the boom of Dexter's Laboratory or Powerpuff Girls nor the early days Toonami. Though I did catch a bit of it during my middle school days since my cousin, whom I visited before and after school, did have cable. My family rejoined the cable crowd in 2000  which allowed me to catch up with all the new shows, reigniting my passion for cartoons even more with this new age of creations, and keep in mind, I was a teen at this point. From then to 2005, it was great to be a fan of the network with their refreshing honesty and very creative commercials. They experimented  with new stuff, always seemed to have something new to offer even though they were mostly just reshuffling the shows to make things interesting but hey they were trying at least. Personally I think they really hit their peak with was known as "CN City", integrating all the toons and having them interact with each other was just pure bliss for any fans of the network and really shot the network up a notch as it showed they really did care about their fans and were trying to improve themselves.

Of course you can't have the good with the bad,  the 2010's disastrous CN Real where where they tried to integrate live action shows to the mix, This would've been interesting if not for the fact that all the shows were just ripoffs of more well known reality shows. Granted I forgive the network for Re-Animated and Out Of Jimmy's Head cause they at least were live action/toon shows (badly implemented ones but still...). But if they were gonna try to compete with Nickelodeon, at least make some unique live action shows from the get go, reality shows are the worst choice for kids shows bar none. By the time they rectified their mistake with Unnatural History and Tower Prep, the audience had long since shun them, both for going against their coda of being solely a network for cartoons and trying to be something their not. CN got the message and pretty much ditched the CN Real brand altogether. They still do live action but only occasionally now.

Currently right now, I say they've recaptured some of their lost glory, once again putting the focus back on the toons where it should. I feel they do put too much exposure on the current stuff when they should at least keep re-running the shows that made them popular to begin with. But hey, one thing at a time. The fact they lasted 20 years is an achievement in and of itself. I can only hope they continue to improve themselves. So cheers to CN, keep on giving us the excellent toonage.

===

That all said, have a wonderful Halloween all, watch the candy now.

First off, thanks to all who wished me Birthday greetings. Really appreciate it.

Animefest Report
Animefest came and went about a week ago, moved into former hotel where A-Kon was held. It was kinda weird going back to the same place to a con I went to earlier this year. Especially all those years when AF would be held at the Hyatt. I'm gonna miss going there but the move was understandable. The Hyatt was very small and could crowded pretty quickly. The Sheraton offered much more space to maneuver around not to mention some familiarity to those that went to A-Kon so it was rather nice.

You noticed I said "former hotel of A-Kon" well because it true. I found out at this con that this year was the last year A-Kon was being held there. The contract expired on the hotel so they're moving to a new location for the 2013 edition. Needless to say I was shocked, I've been coming to A-Kon since 2002 and it's always been at the Sheraton. I had hoped that one year I would gather the money to get a room and stay the full three days (well two days, check in on Friday, stay that Saturday, leave that Sunday). But alas one thing or another (college, no job, very little money only to get merchandise, etc) would always hold me back. And now to hear that'll never happen was a bit jarring. But hey, it was a good run there while it lasted and I look forward to the new hotel come next year.

But onto this con, I once again was on staff for the Dealer's Room, my forth year running. Due to counterfeiting, the staff had switched up on the security for the badges. They were much more huge (think something like a press pass) and were now electronically encoded. The only way into special rooms like the Dealer's or the game room, would be to have it scanned by a tablet. If the thing gave a beep, you were good to go. Not quite as quick as just looking at a badge and waving a person through and the staff got a bit delayed on the opening day (seriously I was ten minutes late getting to the hotel and most of the volunteers were still waiting to get their badges. Heck, the Dealers had to wait pass the time the Dealer's room was opened before they even got theres). Not to mention that some of the badges wouldn't scan at first and had to be reactivated. But eventually they managed to smooth everything out and the rest of the security went like clockwork.

The con itself was quite good, some new faces on the floor (got to meet 8-Bit Mickey of That Guy With The Glasses jeje), larger rooms for guest panels and video showings. I loved the setup they did for registration by making a booth in front of the door where the artist alley was. Scarified a bit of room but unlike A-Kon prevented crowding and was much faster with the lines. The video game room wasn't bad, Persona 4 The Arena being the main showcase among the games. Though way too many 360s there for my taste. Don't get me wrong, I don't have anything  against the system just wanted a bit more variety. There was only like, one PS3, PS2 and one Wii (which, you guess it, had nothing but Brawl on) systems there. C'mon guys. That said though had a blast playing P4A and Left 4 Dead 2, saw a preview build of Fighting Is Magic and even revisited an old classic with Typing of the Dead on the Dreamcast, heck most of the con-goers were playing that then the main stuff LOL (I also found out I can't type under pressure XD).

But the main highlight of course was scouring the floor for cos-players and found a lot of them both old and new, you can see them on my cos-player page: :icontexconchaser:

All in all, I had fun and tried to take in much what I could.

September News

Welp summer is officially over and September is pretty much the starting gate for the Holiday season. It's gonna get cooler down here (not that I mind after enduring the Texas heat). Most news I can give is this

* Heard about Michael Clarke Duncan. Was really hoping he'd pull through from that heart attack. But alas, R.I.P good sir. You were wonderful actor and one of my favorites.
* State Fair's coming up. Me and my gut are really for the local foodstuffs.
* Gonna try to do more drawings. If you wanna art trade, I'm more then happy to accept
* Monsta will continue. Sorry for the false start last time guys, got sideswiped by something else
* Trying to begin on a one shot story called "Powdered Palms" so I can turn it into a book format (and to a certain someone, NO, I'm not using your characters. Don't start bugging me about it.)
* Sept 20: Cartoon Network reach their 20 anniversary. Despite their descions in recent years, I still enjoy watching the network and was even there when they first debuted.
* Sept 28 marking Genndy Tartakovsky's directorial debut on the big screen, Hotel Transylvania. Give him your support guys!

That said, have a good September. Keep your head up!

And here we are at the start of the tail end of the year. Tis all good.

Least I'm out of the doldrums that was July, by the end of this months things start picking up again. Tis also the month of my birth so ol Rich is gonna be another year older come the 28th. Meh.

Saw the new trailer for Hotel Transylvania (which comes out next month , I expect they'll start advertising for it soon). Loving what I'm seeing. I hope the best for Genndy Tartakovsky in the film business as he makes the leap to CGI films. Though the premises of the movie sound a lot like my comic series, Monstra (haven for monsters with the setting being a former spooky place,  undead teenager, wackiness of running the setting, etc).  But I'm not too worried, many a premise are always gonna be similar. The trick of course is the execution. So don't ever let the fact that something came first dampen your works. Just re-adjust and keep the course.

That said though in honor of Hotel Transylvania, I decided to continue on with Monstra starting August 8th. Sorry to delay it so much, just had to do some soul-searching on if my art is worth continuing. One of my future goals is to at least release a print version of one of my comics, so I've decided to take it a bit slow and do some short stories rather then a long term epic which I kinda dived nose first in when I started out.

Also thanks so much to those that took on my request offer, it helped alot with practicing and getting back into the swing of things. Also fun to draw something other then my character too ^_^. That said there are still three slots left if anyone wants a request. So don't be afraid to ask if you want one.

7. :iconvaculity: His dragon character, Kusanagi

Enjoy the rest of summer guys, especially those heading back to school soon. Make the free time last, neh? Heh. Till them.

Figured I might as well put my free time to good use and get back in the groove of drawing. So I'm giving out free requests to anyone who wants one. Granted in the past I never got that many takers but no reason not to try now. I'll take at least 10 requests. Fair warning, these will just be inked drawings, no color (though I'll make em clear enough if you want to color them yourself). Also nothing too overly detailed like backgrounds (or if your in a commission, something I'm already drawing). So get in while you can.

-Sighs- There was a time as a kid I used to love summer and the break it brought from school. But as an adult it just brings nothing but boredom and I still got two more months to get through. Mainly because my job working school caferterias has ended and now I'm back on the unemployment front. Not to say I'm not looking for jobs at the moment but if its anything like my last summers, it'll be slow and plodding. All I can hope for is someone to be willing to hire me. I really need the money to get me through before Fall hits.

That said this year's A-Kon was pretty good, nothing to write home about. I at least had some money this go around and got some much hard to find Mangas and some prints. Was fortunate enough to get to the Team Four Star panel and see the preview of the three part finale of the second season of Dragon Ball Z Abridged, I was even able to tape it. And with the new episode now posted, I'll do so on Youtube when I get the chance. And of course got some nice pics as well which you can see at my TexConChaser page: [link]

I guess I could draw during the lull but I've been feeling rather uninspired as of late and just finding it hard to pick up the pencil. Don't get me wrong I haven't given up drawing just, I don know, would love for something kick me back into gear. I'll try to post some drawings when I can (including some art trades I got going)

That said I'm gonna try to catch Brave, The Amazing Spider-Man and The Dark Knight Rises with the remaining money I have. They should be fun. Hope you all have a good 4th of July and try to keep yourselves cool in the summer.

So yeah Toonami returned on May 26th and needless to say I couldn't be happier

Well somewhat, see the block is working on a reduced budget and they have to recycle most of TOM's new animation as well as their clips from before the 4.0 change. Its not bad but it does look a little cheap (albeit slicker, least TOM's back to his old design). Hearing Steve Blum do his voice again was music to my ears though and the fact that Blum was more then willing to help out the fans get the block back is a major plus. I also like that now that the block is on AS, that they're more then free to cut a little loose then they would've been able to during their original timeslot

However that brings me to the fact that THEY ARE NOT ADVERTISING FOR THIS! Everything has been word of mouth so far but you have to let folks who aren't net savvy or hardcore fans know it on TV. I don't know if they were going for the surprise factor again but that only worked last time as it was on an April Fool's Day and folks weren't expecting it. We got the block to return because of that, but now that its back in rotating they have to let people know to keep watching. I didn't see one ad on Adult Swim telling people this before the re-debut, bringing warning signs to me as its seems they're banking on ONLY hardcore fans to come running. It can't work that way,  the block is starting from square one again so they have to rebuild interest if they want to get it back to it former glory. That means appeasing to people outside the nostalgic circles otherwise this'll crash just as its barely getting off the ground.

Not to mention the lineup is more or less just reruns with about three new shows (New episodes of Bleach, Deadman Wonderland, and Casshrin). Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining that we got our beloved anime block back. But Williams Street will REALLY have to step up their game if they want use to keep tuning in. Please guys, I know your a creative bunch, don't let this die just because of a few missteps.

Speaking of anime, A-Kon is on the horizon: June 1-3. I'm just going as a usual con goer this time but I'll be on the look out for any amazing cos-plays. So if you're going and have a costume, look for the dude with a binder hat on his head. You'll know me when you see me. ^_^

After which all picture will be posted on my cos-play DA page: [link]

No Gory pics (am not opposed to bloodied heads or mouths, even a little skewering but thats as far as I'll go), same gender sex (I..do not..like yaoi, period), or overly gratuitous scenes. I'll draw media and original characters and even comics (they're my forte after all ^_^). But please be detailed with what you want, I really don't want to turn in a drawing only to be told it wasn't what you were looking for. If you want an exact pose or bg PLEASE don't hesitate to tell me. Also for OC characters, references would really help as well though I don't mind descriptions either. Will also watermark if wish.

Hey all, welp were coming to the middle of the year and the start of summer vacation. Which mean high heat and a lot of free time on my end. Though I hope I at least land a summer job so I can make some funds.

Well first and foremost May 5th is a day of multiple celebrations. One for Cinco De Mayo or the the day Mexico gained its independence, good chance theres gonna be some carnivals and festivals going on. As much as I dig a fiesta, I look forward to the other celebration of the geek kind.

That is, Cartoonist Day or more specifically Free Comic Book Day

Yeah I know its childish but I always love heading down to my comic shop and picking up the designated free comics. Its like Christmas of the printed variety plus its cool to see new and exclusive stuff you can't find anywhere else (heck its how I found out about Scott Pilgrim after all. Ever wondered who "Winfred" was? Well there ya go). Plus it also brings back fond memories of when a local comic shop called Zeus used to hold a comic expo called "CAPE" on the day, least up till 2008 before they pulled the plug. It was a fun little outdoor event that would be a nice warm up to A-Kon ( I even met Sonny Strait, the english voice of Krillan, there once). Tis a shame they don't do it anymore, they "claimed" they were skipping a year to find a bigger area (as Zeus had moved that year and they couldn't host the event in front of the shop like they used to, instead moving it to a park down the street), but there was no word of the event after that. I can only guess that Zeus just didn't feel like they could host it anymore or something. I don't know, I just hate we don't have it anymore. But hey free comics, so I'll take what I can get.

Speaking of comic book heroes, Gonna go see The Avengers movie this weekend, it looks like it getting high praise from multiple critics which is a good sign. I'm in shut down mode on anything regarding the movie as I really don't want to be spoiled till I go see it in theaters. I have seen all the other movies that lead up to it however and just for kicks heres a quick run down what I think of them.

Iron Man : Good origin story, gave a proper motive to the hero and his change of attitude (somewhat). Villain could've been better but had some wonderful special effects.

Iron Man 2: Decent follow up, too much focus on Tony's dying dilemma for my taste. Villains don't have much screen time and climax feels too rushed. Still not a bad set up to The Avengers film.

The Incredible Hulk: Tons better then the Ang Lee film (though I liked that one too). Solid representation of the Hulk with much better CGI. Love the evolution of the villain before he becomes the Abomination and a great plot overall. Shame they couldn't get Edward Norton back for The Avengers but eh.

Thor: Love this film, a great evolution of the title character from a arrogant god to a humble hero. Thought the frost giants and the fellow warriors were underused and the climax could've been better. But otherwise a great plot.

Captain America: Finally a rightful representation of the character.  No complaints on this one, they got it right across the board from beginning to end. Really look forward to the sequel to this one but for now can't wait to see him in the Avengers.

So there you have it, once I lay eyes on The Avengers flick I'll write down my thoughts here, so stay tuned

---EDIT----

Okay went and saw it last Saturday.

The Avengers

It...ROCKED!

Everything about this film was pitch perfect. The interactions between the team, The structure of the story, the settings, the battles. Just...wow man, wow. And they said it couldn't be done but Joss Whedon pulls its off brilliantly. Nothing felt out of place, everything and everyone was in character. Even the CGI didn't look overused. I mean really this is The Avengers, the guys you know and love from the comics and previous movies finally brought to form on the big screen. Heck you don't even have to see the previous movies to get whats going on (if just for the lead up). This is very first timer friendly and might even make the uninitiated want to go back and see the previous films just to see the origins and how these characters function on their own.

Seriously there nothing I can really say, I enjoyed it immensely and a good chance you will too. Go out and see this movie now.

Oh yeah and true comic book readers,  stay after the credits for both a shock and an extra laugh. It'll be worth the wait I assure you.
